Senior Role Model

What it means to be top of the school.

Next year the year 7’s are going to become year 8’s and it is going to be ‘FUN’. Being senior role models is ‘AWESOME’ because not having the older people looking out for us and when we become year 8’s we can look out for ourselves.

This is what I think being a Senior role model is about: being really tidy and helpful around the school.

The people that I really like being Senior role model of the school that are now year 8’s is April. She is KIND, NICE and FRIENDLY.

Next year there are going to be new role models for our school the people that I think should be are Senior role model should be a great helper, kind and awesome to other people. The person that I would go for is Chelsea because she is a great person. When people need help she is there to help and she is the first one to ask people for help as well.

One of the big things I would like to achieve next year is being in more sports also trying to be aSenior role model and a leader.

Tangata Pasifika

This morning Room 22 were very, very lucky because Tangata Pasifika from channel 1 was coming to film us about what CHRISTMAS means to us?

What Christmas means to me is coming as a family, doing secret Santa and most of all eating food. We always say a prayer to bless our food.

When Tangata Pasifika come into our class Ms V welcomed Osone Okesene and then said this is Chris and Ted, Osene said do you guys know why we are here today 'Osene said "we are here because we while like to film you about begetting and what CHRISTMAS means to us".

Osone was speaking to people that wanted to be interviewed while the rest of us had to finish off our work so when it comes to Christmas we can pass it onto our family.

'Happy as they were packing up with their gear "GOODBYE" Osone said "your class while be on t.v on Thursday night or on Sunday morning" Chris and Ted said " GOODBYE " walking out the door Osone, Chris and Ted were off.

NetBooks

This year is the first year that the yr 5's to yr 8's were finial working on Net books and not in books.

For the first time every we have been taking our Net books home and it has been really, really different in Room 22 because one of the other things that I do like about Net books is that we can type instead of writing it on paper, making mistakes we can fix them by using the dictionary to help us look up stuff to help us solve our work.

`The things that I don't like about Net books is that our Net books take hours to log in to, but with paper and pencil we can just take them out of our desk and start working this is why I have are problem with Net books. When our Net books are at home our Internet take longer to connect at same of our house's'.

Net Books are really fun to have and I can not wait when we go to collage.

My year in Room 22 has been (EPIC) not just having are (WONDERFUL) teacher but meeting people that I've seen around but have never ever talk to before. Having are Literacy creative class room with lots of thinks around to help us in need is very challenging because we have different types of things on our wall like our topic called "OUTTA THIS WORLD", our 'LITERACY AND OUR LITERACY CYCLE', 'MuLiTIPlE InTEiLIGeNCeS and many many more things that we have learnt from Ms T and I cant wait to focus on same more cool things. Ms T has made us out standing.

We have are thing that we stand up and do are Mihi to start our day one person stands by them self and says,

'He mihi whanui tenei kia tatou katoa kia koe te ranatira e _____ tena koe mo to mahi whakamoemiti ki to tatou matua i te rangi He mihi aroha tenei ki a koe _____ (teacher) tena koe ka huri au ki nga tauira Kia Ora koutou kato No reira ra tatoua katoa'.

If we have are fun day we finish off by sing some maori songs. THIS IS WHY ROOM 22 IS FUN!

Halloween

It was the night of Halloween? 'trick a treat', in my family we don't go out and get dress up the reason why is because we do not believe Halloween apart from lollies.
Super excited laying in bed watching t.v while the rest of my family were having dinner, next minute? their was are knock on the door. Opening the door " trick a treat " it was our next door neighbors all dressed up with painted faces trying to look scary we told them that we did not believe Halloween so we had no lollies to hand out we said that "we were very sorry" off they went to the next house.

Then a few minutes later their was another knock at the door, getting up to open the door I turned on the hall way lights and I saw someone standing at the door with are bag my mum said "OPEN IT AND TELL THEM WE DON'T HAVE ANY LOLLIES" and once I lean forward to open the door it was my Nana standing outside she was smiling and she was screaming "TRICK A TREAT" and she was laughing her hardest that she could not stop?. Entering with her bag full of good's, DING! the bell rang the cake was ready (WOOPYY) I could not what to shove my mouth with cake.

Finishing off the cake it was time for bed their was no one outside so we could get same sleep. "Bye Bye" my Nana said Kissing us as she took her bag full of lollies and off she went, that was the end of our night of Halloween.

Lately the rest of the yr 7’s and 8’s that have joined the production are now trying to finish it off probably by working as hard as they have ever before to make Ms T, Teachers and mainly Mr Burt happy like are fly.

Missing out on all the interesting things that I could have been doing made me think? Sitting and wondering why I did not sign up made me think I could have but I did not. It was are thing that I did not choose clearly, it’s the last week and then we go on are 2 week holiday and seeing myself in Room 20 having free time I could have being doing same things like writing stories and finishing it off probably like the dancers.

Badminton

On Thursday, Room22 where chosen first to go and play badminton out of the year7’s and 8’s which we were all excited to go and play.

Badminton was held in the hall, and standing in the hall was a lady called Laureen and she is from Auckland Badminton Club. Laureen took as though same basic rules like how to holed a racket and what was a racket, there were same shuttles in a bin and we had to make sure we held it right to hit correctly, Laureen said the main rule was when she said shuttle it meant stop!

The first activity Laureen made as do was to stand any were but away from people, We could start I was really nervous at first but I got use to it. The 2 thing we had to do was to get 5 shuttles into the bin we had to use it carefully. We all did it together but in 2 different groups and we had about 5 or less rounds to get it into the bin.

Laureen then said “we are going to stand with are partner with only one shuttle and a cone”.
Rose and I were partners, grabbing a cone while Rose got the shuttle she was up first to hit the racket with the shuttle to try and get a point which the point was to whack it into the cone, half time it was hand over. it was my turn trying to hit it into the cone, Laureen called out “shuttles” we were still playing she shouted it out again and we finally respond it was time to pack up ready for the next class, we did not want to stop but it was fear because it was our time up.

Packing up we were getting in line and said “a big thank-you to Laureen” she is going to teach as same more moves when it is our turn again.

Annexe Design Process

Introduction:Room22 was given a task this term to design furniture for the street, Identifying a need so student are not being destructive.

Generate ideas: We had to come up with some creative ideas on the computer to modify our storage to our own ideas, Ngametua and I picked tables for the furniture and we had to attribute ideas like safety, size, practical and innovative to think what our furniture would look like and how safe it was.

Finding solution: Finding a solution on problems that we can fit or answer in our research to make it like a senior place in the street so students, visitors and parents can feel welcome.

Now we are making our prototype to see what our furniture would turn out like and if it might be built and be placed in the street so students, visitors and parents can see what the street looks like with creative furniture and how it feels like a senior home.

Rugby League Session

Yesterday there was a man from Vodafone Junior Warriors Squad which he was coming to teach as how to play rugby league and his name is Sio Siua Taukeiaho.

Ms T put us in four groups and Sio Siua Taukeiaho made us warm up. The first step we had to do was to run around same cones holding a rugby ball in our hands then passing it to the next person I was the the rid person to ran I was nevus as a bee but I got over my fares and ran and ran it was over and we all had to sit down when everyone has had a turn we probably had 2 or 3 points and the winning team had to be the first team and the losing team had to do push ups.

He said that was not the real game, so he made as do it about 3 times I got use to it doing it over and over.

Sio Siua Taukeiaho said “now it is time to move on to the next trail and it was to zig zag around all your team mates and sprint back” but first we had to line up with the ball in our hands and on his count he said (GO) stared moving along we did not get points but other teams did. Ms T said how ever bets Lepa will get same Pavlova and the winner was Lesly and the rest lost. Waiting for them to finish Sio Siua Taukeiaho explained the next game, they were finished moving on with the next set of game.

Ms Vaa Fusuaunga told us the game and it is called kick tennis the rules of the game we pretty easy “there a only two teams” she said and they were group1 and 2 on the other team was group 3 and 4.”Play ball” Ms Vaa Fusuaunga shouted so we started playing, the teams got smaller and smaller and group 1 and 2 had 2 people and on group 3 and 4 there was only 1 which was Destiny and she got out. “We won” said Ms Vaa Fusuaunga. Ms Vaa Fusuaunga said two more games and after the two games it was over we said a big thank you to Sio Siua Taukeiaho and walked back to class. That was the first time I enjoyed playing rugby league tanning with my class.

On Thursday 9th of June the senior school were told that there was going to be a Science Roadshow that was held at Tamaki College. Ms T put us in groups so we could get more information on some inventions, the reason why we went down to the Science Roadshow was to get a chance to learn more about our topic Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger.

We finally got down there and got told to take a seat from the people that were taking the exhibits, we listen to a man who's name was Paul and a lady that was called Jane they explained and showed as some cool chemicals that we could not play with. We waited for awhile for Paul and Jane to stop talking they said that you can win a prize when you answer some questions and get them correct you can be in the draw.

Then they let us go. We ran like animals to see the inventions. The invention that our group looked at was BIG EAR! there was phone and a volume button to turn up and down, a satellite dish so you can hear the other person talking though the phone. We started looking around, there were lot of inventions that we have never seen before.

Paul called as back to talk more about senses which was about sounds, feeling, touch and smell. Paul said out the winners and they were Awhina and Angela which was from Tamaki College. It was time to go we said goodbye, I had a good time going down to the Science Roadshow because I got some good information for our topic.

Design Process

Why is generating ideas important? Room22 have being planning ideas for what we were going to create which is STOP LITTERING but first we had to look for some pictures online and share it into a new folder. The second step was to think what shape and colour and if it was made out of cardboard, plastic or handmade. Creating and thinking at the same time it was kinda hard, one of the thing’s we had to think about was if it was freestanding or if it was not.

We started to design Ms T said that we can draw on the computer or in our topic books. We had to design a NO LITTERING sign which would fit in a octagon, triangle or what ever we wanted to make and so that the little kids can understand the message we are trying to tell them.

Why we are trying to design this process is to tell people to make this world are better place.

Swimming Lessons

For the last two weeks the year 7's and 8’s have been walking down to the G.I pools, during lunch time so we can learn to swim if there is an emergency and so we can be safe and sound in the water cause New Zealand is surrounded by lots of water.

The people who takes swimming lessons are the teachers and we have to listen to the teachers there way so we can learn better an be safe.

There were a few people that did not go swimming and one of them was me, but I had to watch and watch every time they went down to the pools, it felt so (BORING) but it was exciting at the same time to watch because even though I was not in the pool I can still learn to swim outside of the pool.

Most of the people that did not bring a note had to write lines. They had to write, they must bring there togs. In tell swimming was over then Ms T will check to see how many lines they have done.

When it comes to the next class, Room22 has to get out of the cold pool and get change, when they have finished getting change we line up and then we start walking back to school and do work into the school bell goes.

Netball

Paragraph 1
Last week Thursday, Room22 including the senior side went to take turns of going to a lady called Emma. Emma is form the Auckland netball courts she comes to teach as same skills for netball. Down on the courts every Thursdays.

Paragraph 2
When it came to doing the skills I was kinda (SCARED) because I thought that we had to do it by our self but no we did not need too. Emma made as do 3 basic skills steps, not as easy as I thought after all. Then she said ‘to find a partner’ their was two split groups, group 1 and 2 so it was Ngametua and me. We had to do a chest pass mainly what I thought that she might though the ball and I might miss. It was only because group 1 was farther then as, Emma told them to came closer ‘play ball’ she shouted again Ngametua chest pass to me and I differently caught the ball. Every time we had to throw the ball to each other we kept on passing with at dropping
the ball.

Paragraph 3
My overall for netball was playing ageists boys and girls in different teams.

Term One Reflection

One of the things in my report I was pleased about last term was my artwork because I got 12 out of 12. I received excellence's for work habits, behavior and academic progress. I felt pleased with myself so did my mum!

The thing I need to improve on is my writing. Last term I did not do a very good job. I received a below expectation on academic progress and I need to stay focus when it comes to writing time.

My term went well but I need to get better at finishing my homework and writing so my report has 3 excellence’s in work habits, behavior and academic progress.

My D.L.O results:

Bar Graph

Ms Tito said that we were learning all about statistics and it means to find things out. So we did a tally chart to see who liked what food we all found out that the most favorite food that we agreed on was Nachos and the less favorite was Curry and kumara
